I agree. What happened to your previous account, man?

Permabanned and never knew why (wasn't even in the banned thread), I hate dealing with those kinds of profile problems and had stopped rating albums at the same time so I just made a new profile from scratch
|
| |
Doesn't bother me and I prefer this username to the other one (The Barber being my fav Cohen Brothers flick), anyway back to the music as always and this is booming!

Does this just sound like Intronaut?
|
| |
It's got very very few nods to the prog parts of intronaut but in terms of actual sound it's closer to
Old Man Gloom without the ambient elements

It doesn't really sound like Intronaut at all.
Really enjoying this actually, quite impressed with their sound & song writing. Some seriously ballsy jams as well as more groovy and chill sections.

When I saw review mention progressive sludge I sorta got excited for something sounding like Mastodon or Baroness, but this has absolutely no similarities to those bands in the least.
Although I am about 4 tracks in now and I am starting to enjoy it more as it goes.
I think vocals are what I am struggling most to enjoy from this band atm.

takes multiple listens for sure, vox are alright but defenitly not the highlight

Vocals do suck yea

I for one dig the vocals. I think they fit the music really well. It still depends on what you expect, though.
|
| |
See I feel like these vocals would much better fit a thrash or metalcore band, they feel a little bit underwhelming when stacked against the scale of the instrumentation employed on this thing.

That's a fair point, but I wouldn't like to have terribly melodic vocals on this. This is still stoner/sludge metal.
|
| |
Not even necessarily melodic.
There's been one other really good stoner/sludge metal act besides this one that caught my attention so far this year, and it was Ethereal Riffian's 'Aeonian'. Those vocals were more akin to lo-fi monk chant. I can't help but feel that the style of vocals used on this aren't the best match for the music - but I am going to give this a few more fair listens because I definitely enjoy it and I think I will enjoy it more and more each time.
|
| |
Yea I feel not necessarily that the vocals themselves are bad but they don't complement the music well
|
| |
sounds sweet
|
| |
Some pretty wicked riffage going on here. Like it a lot.
|
| |
Good stuff, just wish the production was better. Maybe intentional, but the mix is pretty rough.
|
| |
Is the artwork by the Baroness guy?
|
| |
nope it's by Jimbob Isaac (bestest last name)
