Yeah he was really special. He participated in a blues album after this one and he was great there but not in the same way as this album or Then Play On. If any of you guys is into Memphis blues the album is called Blue Memphis and it's by the great Memphis Slim.

@manosg: I believe Green's contributions to that Memphis Slim album were actually recorded around the same time as this/before this was actually released.

Thanks Mad.

This is my favorite album. There is a fantastic video of the title trck on youtube overlaying the music to a 1930s cartoon.

It is freaky and brilliant. This album was the edited highlights of an extended jam session rumoured to have been

conducted on acid. I would love to hear the rest of it. I always wondered if this was Green's attempt to get down on vinyl

a version of the jam he did on acid in Munich. This was the one at the the hippy commune, which seemed to change

everything for green. I really would love to know what Peter Green thinks of it now. Anyway it took about 5 plays to get

into, but now I just can't get enough of it. Great review BTW

A lot of AllMusic's ratings are ridiculous. I've gotta say that is probably one of the most ridiculous though.

@cptmainwaring: Yeah this was rumoured to be performed on acid but I've also read/heard things that contradict that. Either way I have no doubt Green's mental state had a huge on influence the music on this album regardless of whether he was on acid or not. Great to see someone who holds this album in such high esteem. And thanks.

Thanks hogan, hope you dig.

'A lot of AllMusic's ratings are ridiculous.'

Yeah, they 5'd Moby's debut album but only gave Play a 4.5

For some reason I downloaded the AllMusic app for my iphone. I have no idea why as I never use the site.

Thanks Resident. You're gonna review In the Skies? Nice.
