Small Black Flowers is one of the greatest songs written about depression.

"I think only a handful of tracks here include Richey's lyrics"
Five of them do
"That's definitely not a good thing"
How so? Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Oasis fan myself, but when Britpop is good (Blur, Supergrass), it can be incredibly enjoyable
MOR means "middle of the road." And to me, this has too much power pop and hard rock to ever be considered "MOR." There's still a lot of energy and power here, but it's used in a different way... idk, I'm personally quite a fan of music that sees melancholic themes and uplifting instrumentation collide (that's exactly what drew me so much to After Laughter, for instance, and even some moments in Holy Bible like Yes or the beautiful ending of 4st 7lb). Plus, the acoustic passages/songs are quite beautiful. The way I see it, this is almost as good as Holy Bible despite its deviations from past work

Now, This is My Truth Tell Me Yours, however? DEFINITELY middle-of-the-road music

If I even get a sniff of britpop then it signals the end for me, just how I am for some reason, Oasis are actually the worst 'acclaimed' band of all time though, no joke. I can see why someone would like this, just not my thing anymore I guess. At one point I was a massive fan & would listen to any of their records.
This is My Truth is actually terrible, not even MOR, haha.

I mean yeah, I definitely agree on the Oasis thing. They pretty much suck, even the most well-received albums of their career. Have you ever tried Supergrass, though? They combine the britpop stuff with really aggressive punk and hard rock elements... very fun to listen to, especially I Should Coco. I'm not even the biggest britpop guy myself and they're still one of my favorite alternative rock bands

Probably this.
Holy Bible is everyone's favourite, check that next.
Journal for Plague Lovers is really good as well.

I’d always say Gold Against the Soul.
The band disowned it but the fact is it has some of their best tunes. From Despair to Where, La Tristesse Durea and the t/t are classic.

First four are worth it and Send Away the Tigers isn’t bad. Everything else isn’t worth a wank.

Yup Journal for Plague Lovers is like Send Away the Tigers but better, produced by Steve Albini, and all the lyrics were written by Richie

I want to like this but somehow it really falls flat. I ended up liking TIMTTMY much more after listening to this because while it does not touch the first three records for me, at least it's heaps better than EMG.
