This review was great. Also, bummed about Chris Carrabba - I thought he had done a good job with Further Seems Forever's most recent effort.

I bet this is excruciating.

Your thoughts on the whole folky trend is spot on, some people can do it right though. I feel like he's trying to hard to stay current with this and even with new FSF (strange autotunesque production) that he's forgetting why he became popular in the first place. It's kind of sad that he can't realize what kind of impact his old music had. It wasn't a trend.

I'm going to assume troll unless she leaves in the next 48 hours due to the virginal juggernaut that is the userbase

"virginal juggernaut" is hypothetically very accurate. great review mate, I will not check this out (soon as I saw Carabba + Mumford & Sons, the pieces fell in order).

piling onto the love for the white people line, that was a stroke of brilliance
I actually liked the EP a lot (I'm a sucker for this kind of music, though), but this just blends together too much. still a few good songs.

These comments are nothing but a circlejerk and this review was written completely with head in ass. You came off as pretentious within the first paragraph, that's probably a record, good job. Then apparently everyone's favourite line is when you stereotype and make borderline racist comments, when did that become the basis for good writing?
And complaining because they use hand claps on nearly every song...that's a new level of stupidity. Just in case there wasn't enough to bitch about, apparently we must now judge songs for having the sound of two hands slapping together.
I'll agree with you that the lyrics contain a lot of cliches that are only just barely saved by Chris' genuine vocal performance. But I also don't think this album is representative of their skill, I saw them play live in Calgary with my friend who loves anything Chris does and they were great.
Afterthought: "the quote also brings to light the fundamental issue with the indie-folk scene: they are doing nothing more than preying on the intrinsic need for white people to do things in unison."
Seriously...what the fuck? What does race have to do with this album? And how can you write something like this and think "yes, this is a clever thing to say." Seriously, get some lube and pull that head out of your ass. Get over yourself. Is this album going to change the world, no? Is it a solid collection of catchy acoustic music? I'd say so.

review was fun to read
calling this writing style "pretentious" is pretty laughable
