Morning Glory was far from flaccid... it's just a fantastic pop album... (to each their own, no doubt!)... their latter stuff was more of the half and half variety... I still think Gas Panic is one of the best songs they have ever done.

got to admit i've never really bothered listening much to any albums later than this but that single they did 'importance of being idle' was like the second coming of the kinks, brilliant

Great review.
BHN is definitely their weakest album for me, some good stuff here though. The next couple was much better with 3 or 4 career highlights Gas Panic, who feels love, Go let it out etc and the one after was again hit & miss but features great tunes like Stop crying your heart out and Songbird. DBTT & DOYS are far better records in general and quite overlooked.

Thanks TrephineArtist.
I more or less agree with your outlook for the rest of their discog but i'll go more in depth on each review i do. Can't forget The Masterplan too though - only Oasis could make a b-sides album that is better than most of their discography!

Masterplan, has the best collection
Acquiesce
Talk tonight
Half the world away
Masterplan

Rocking Chair and Listen Up too. Masterplan is just front to back gold. They should release another B-Sides album for all the stuff that came after.

I forgot Going Nowhere aswell. Probably the best of the lot despite the shocking lyrics
Plane
Train
Fame
Says the lot though.

Of course pos
Their worst album absolutely, over the top, crazy amounts of cocaine, according to them later in interviews "we did it because no one said no." They just had another number one rock hit with "Champagne Supernova" in US so who was going to stop them from making more songs with that sort of length.
Unfortunately, it took almost a decade for these guys to get back into place. RIP Britpop.
Also, The Masterplan is amazing. If some of the songs from there were on this album, it'd be a much different story.

Apologies I don't know how the US charts work, I thought it was billboard 200 or whatever it is and that was it.

@Zack
Without a doubt, I think if some of the b-sides from that era (Masterplan, Underneath The Sky, Stay Young, Rocking Chair, Acquiesce) were used for Be Here Now to take a few of the lesser tracks place (It's Getting Better Man, Magic Pie, Girl In The Dirty Shirt, Fade In Out) then this would be a lot more critically acclaimed.
Although I still think, other than maybe The Masterplan itself, the singles released from this album were the best tracks for 'singles' across the two releases.
