"I Will Become The Ground You Walk On" - fucking love that song name. Hyped as hell, expecting nothing but top tier ambience.

Just listened to this fir the first time while walking around my neighborhood and noticing the Christmas light some people have already put up. Fuck me this is devastating.

Giving this some more attention since I haven't jammed from beginning to end in a couple years and I've really grown to love ambient music in that time. This is their closest to pure ambient any of their main albums get.

Opener is magnificent, like an instrumental Sigur Ros song. Agreed w/ budgie about the second track, Quiet Explosion. I'm not in love with the third one, Tiny Particles, but it's solid.

I adore Like a Valley, and Holding Your Absence is really good too.

Second half is a bit samey, but Middle of This Nowhere is gorgeous. I could see raising my rating in time. This is like their Valtari, another underrated record.

it definitely has 3-4 of their absolute best songs but honestly every Hammock album pretty much does (that I've heard anyway, I fell off after Everything and Nothing came out)

yeah it's true their openers are typically their strongest tracks, the air between us, the backward step, cold front, raising your voice... all top hammock tracks right there, lol

The whole first disc of DS is absolutely perfect, and then Tornado Warning, but agreed agreed agreed Rowan. Way too long but awesome individual songs. This as a whole is so much better.

And I Can Almost See You is the opener haha

Departure Songs is better imo but I appreciate that this is shorter and more subtle.
