am i bad for thinking this is literally everything wrong with music

exploiting common chord structures, clichés and melodies for the sake of obtaining a cheap and hollow emotional response

Or it could be that this is simply the style of music he enjoys making, and he doesn't have ulterior motives?

It was supposed to be an EP, but I guess he got inspired and stretched it into another LP

but doesn't that imply he was inspired in the first place

The band's debut, Reanimation (released in January 2013), has been called "the greatest debut album in post-rock history"

sorry, what ??

lowered my rating a little. this is just too short with too many tracks that dont do much.

debut had some nice moments but it was overlong

I actually prefer the pacing here: some very well-developed climaxes with subtle bits of ambience in between.

Debut is definitely better. This one is just bland and even more cheesy than the first one. Atleast Reanimation included a tiny bit of variation.

It's not terrible but it feels like to much of a commercial or movie score. It's the musical

equivalent of an Apple/Google commercial trying to rile you up to feel something. It's better than

Reanimation in that it doesn't feel entirely ignorant of your surroundings

but it still feels cheap and insincere.

I'd take sincere generic post rock any day compared to this stuff, but perhaps on a bright day with no

clouds in sight I might give this a spin.
