It appears pretty transparent to me that the only reason that this is being heralded with broad statements such as "Best Album Of 2006" is because of SYL and Townsend's rabid fanbase. I'm really hearing nothing especially fantastic or revelatory enough to claim this the best album of anything. It's not bad, but it's definitely nothing special.This Message Edited On 04.20.06

Second off, Townsend just has a unique sound and approach to music. I hyped this up quite a bit on Mx, but that's because I heard it and was blown away, regardless of my Townsend fandom.

Anybody in doubt about Devin's greatness should grab Ocean Machine. That'll set you straight, and it's probably easier to get into than this.
