Yes, yes he is.
He is also Canadian. Just one more reason Canada rules.
Wait a sec,
Devin = God
Devin = Canadian
Therefore: God = Canadian?
lol.

Oh man, if he was, we'd all be screwed. :P
Maybe happy isn't the right word, but you do seem to feel a lot better after listening to it; you have to admit that.

Nice, this album is #1 on the 2006 Rankings. Let's keep it that way!
I'm going to listen to this tonight as I go to sleep. Such beautiful, strange, great music.

I think we've all been sitting around waiting for someone to review this, and now that they have, we're happy little muchkins.
I know I am.

:lol: That's true. Actually, I was going to do it myself, but I kept putting it off because I never got the right words in my head to describe it. I didn't want to do it injustice.

This is kind of lame.
No emotion.
Just blunt technicality, if you want an experimental metal release check out Kayo Dot's new release. There's some good music.

I find it almost impossible to see how you could listen to this and say there's no emotion.

Yea, but it goes with his schtick.
And still, he could have no legs and still be awesome if he keeps writing music like this.

Looks like Devy was trying to look nasty for the SYL vid.
Looked like a normal guy to me in some interview I saw.
Same goes for the vid of that song he did while working with Steve Vai when he had his head completely shaved.

The songs I have heard off of this sound like late-period Collective Soul trying to be Cynic.
It appears pretty transparent to me that the only reason that this is being heralded with broad statements such as "Best Album Of 2006" is because of SYL and Townsend's rabid fanbase. I'm really hearing nothing especially fantastic or revelatory enough to claim this the best album of anything. It's not bad, but it's definitely nothing special.This Message Edited On 04.20.06

That's your first mistake right there. This is album music, period. Bottom line, you've got to listen to the whole thing and see how beautifully and flawelessy it comes together as an album, combining styles I've never heard combined before in ways I've never heard before.
Second off, Townsend just has a unique sound and approach to music. I hyped this up quite a bit on Mx, but that's because I heard it and was blown away, regardless of my Townsend fandom.

Anybody in doubt about Devin's greatness should grab Ocean Machine. That'll set you straight, and it's probably easier to get into than this.

If a song isn't good it isn't good. An entire album of bad songs cannot be a good album. Sorry.

Ok, well I've listened to songs that didn't impress me, but did once I heard them in the proper context. Just something to think about is all.
Which songs have you heard?
