if your rating is a 4.2 doesn't it make more sense to round down than up?

I'm sorry but there's a lot of bs in this review. I'm not going to point them all but the core of the review could be summed up with "I prefered the lyrical songwriting, spontaneity and fresh indie sound of their debut but that's a little light for a review. I'm just gonna collect some consensual arguments, throw some obnoxious judgement of intentions and chose a derogatory adjective for every stylistic choice or unusual instrumentation". Your analysis of their songwriting basis is obviously reductive but also applicable to a lot of albums especially funeral changing the words. What means "dated" in art (we're obviously not talking of the production). What is the existential meaning of a drum beat. Did you get the concept of the first disc ? Do you really think the duration of the tracks is inherently pretentious, that Afterlife didn't connect with listeners, that they put no soul in the music because it is less confessional and bombastic ?
(Also Reflektor is arguably not the best track but I can understand the objective approach).

I can't give much credit to a review written out of a Youtube streaming that's been up for like 24 hours.

Sputnik blowhards are not that literate. The biblical, historical, and escatological references found in the Arcade Fire discography are over the heads of most I guess. I now see why people are bored. I suppose the higher your knowledge base is the more you might enjoy this. If you do not have a lot of "book learning" this band, and record are probably not for you.

Pretense means to hold or keep something before its time. My observation is rather timely, Yes?

Context. My point exactly. The name of the band is Arcade Fire. What would be the result of this event? Many dead children. Tragedy! The name of the album: Reflektor. Like the life of Narcissus. One who was so in love with his reflected visage that he turned into a flower. Many users just do not appreciate anything but visceral, boorish lyrics. And my context is valid. A synonym of pretense is prejudice, to judge before due time.

I know what pretense means, but thank you very much, kind sir.
You don't seemed to be informed about the meaning of the word: Pretentious. Since you seem to be unable or unwilling to let google cover up your lack of information, let me help you out.
