Review seems okay, although I'm skeptical about a first day review of a pretty challenging record, which is very long as well. 4-5 listens is not that much.

Just heard Normal Person, Jesus what a great song. Based in my first listen, it is one I the best songs the band has produced. Still gonna wait until I own this until I spin though.
What are your thoughts on it Ed?

First couple listens and this doesn't come close to justifying the near-80 minute run-time. Too many
of the tracks don't go anywhere, and fewer still evoke an emotional response. I'm not giving up on it
entirely, though. The band's previous work is too good to just write this one off.

I liked it, especially "Normal Person", "It's never over" and "Afterlife". I think it's very fresh
sounding and a pretty huge step for the band. LCD Soundsystem is definitely all over this album
which is sometimes very good and sometimes rather weird. I also get the concern, that the album
might be to weak to justify it's running time. Some Tracks ("Reflektor", "Awful Sounds") seem to be
too long (It reminded my of my feelings on the 20/20 experience, the songs were great, but
overstayed their welcome) although I may change my opinion on that.
Right now It feels like a strong 3.5 or a light 4 for me. But I only listened to it twice.

I much preferred the new Los Campesinos! album to this. Reflektor is good, but way too over hyped.

Interesting you guys think the review sounds rushed. Each listen I kind of payed attention to different elements of the album and took additional notes. I realize its a complex album, and that it will wear on me differently over time. And I suppose certain elements of the review were sort of vague, but I felt the album itself was looking for that level of analysis. I tried to discuss more about overarching aesthetics for the very reason I mentioned in the review. It's better looked at as a single project with overarching musical similarities.
Anyway- feedback is always appreciated! Let me know where the review is slow or too vague and I will note it for next time!

"5 of 5 thought this review was well written"
So don't worry to much about it.

About as good as a hasty review can get.
Pavel, this was a good review but I'd like to see you take your time a little bit for your next major review. Sometimes, the best anecdotes for reviews come through the experiences with the album you didn't anticipate, and those often happen long after the record is available.

John also brought up a more helpful point than me. Early reviews can be pretty good, as long as they provide some insight. This review is mostly technical information, what the songs sound like, etc. and while you write that style well, I'd like to see more from ya

Of course, I agree. I did of course want to weigh in on this one first. There are albums I've been listening to for five years that still introduce an unexpected sound something I haven't heard before. But this album came out early yesterday as a leak at about 10 AM- and I listened to it quite a bit until I felt I absorbed it. Then I watched the lyric video twice.
How many listens/days is appropriate before it's acceptable to write a review?
