Reanimation was alright. A few decent tracks but it was a real bore. This one the other hand...no thanks. Good review though, pos'd.

Dammit why couldn't they leave all this electronic shit to a side project, akin to AFI, and stick to alt rock/metal for the band's music.

I'm by no means saying this is a fantastic album, its good. However Alex, I'd like to point out that you clearly do not have a sufficient understanding of EDM music to be reviewing this album the way you did. You keep reiterating how this is a 'dubstep album' (12 times) when in fact, only 2-3 of the tracks are dubstep.
I'm a huge fan of LP and can really appreciate the different approach to the originals. I'm not bashing your opinion or anything, but maybe try to have a better understanding of the genre before giving such strong views that other people will be reading. A song with heavy basslines does not automatically make it dubstep

Tbh they never were really good. Two decent albums don't make a great band.

@Cybertek52
I'm all for critiquing, as anyone (no matter how experienced) can improve their writing style, but I would like to know what you would call the EDM-influence in this album.
I also try my absolute hardest to be educated in any genre of any album I choose to review. In fact, at other reviewing positions of mine, I'm forced to do so because the albums I review are assigned to me. I cannot dive into reviewing an album from a genre that I had no idea exists without contextual support, so I research genres, listen to sample tracks and stay informed on what makes what in music.
On the other hand, reviews are an opinion, so there is bound to be difference in interpretation and classification between listeners. Professionally, I am forced to both stay educated surrounding similar music, but also remember that no breed of music can only be classified in a single genre. That really has never happened.
Like I said, I'm all for criticism, but hearing that I "clearly do not have a sufficient understanding" of something after such efforts is something that bothers me. Trust me, I take reviewing very seriously.

@PostMesmeric
I respect that you have put time into researching and completely understand the situation you described. Although being a long-term EDM listener/follower, I suspect this amplified my "anger" to some of the phrases/statements you made in the review. I don't want that to come across dick-ish, I'm by no means an EDM guru haha.
'but I would like to know what you would call the EDM-influence in this album.'
I'll give a brief summary of what it would be classed as:
EDM tracks at:
128bpm - Generally 'House Music', which can include a number of sub-genres.. (Electro House, Tech House, Progressive House, Deep House, "Big Room House") The majority of the album is made up of these.
140bpm - This is usually the bpm of "Dubstep" (Within EDM), with a half time beat. The killsonink, datsik, and Nick CatchDubs fit into this.
Sorry if you knew all that already lol, but those are generally the genres that make up the album, along with one drum and bass(dirtyphonics) and one hardstyle/gabba(Victimized(M.Shinoda)) track. Cheers for the reply!

30seconds, speak for yourself.
But still enough of the electronic shit. Some bands did it right(radiohead) but linkin park just isn't good at electronic stuff. Even though I love ATS, they need to do something different
