On first listen, this is a little disappointing after hearing Immutable Dusk and the other single. Hopefully its a grower.

it's not that he isn't good cuz he proved himself on pelican's early material and in tusk

he knows his purpose is to ride with the riffs

Album is ok. Threnody is my favourite.

To be honest, these guys are starting to bore me now. Their use of dynamics seems to be getting worse, album by album.

Still, most of these tunes rock pretty hard.

The phrase "breathable sections" reads a bit too close to each other; a think a similar phrase would

work better the second time. But very good write-up.

Earlier Pelican bored me to tears, but I was very pleased with this.

I'm hoping this grows on me. I'm not giving it a rating just yet but after first listen, it's a bit dull compared to most of their other work.

Fuck it! Vestiges first riff reminds of Triad completely and I'm not losing my mind. As soon as the song started and I wasn't paying attention I honestly thought I was listening to Tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=in_Oyywwqa0#t=178 Perfect example and if anyone clicks it and it doesn't give the time to where I clicked, it's 2:58.

Good review but I totally disagree with your comment about them stuck in a rut. What We All Come To Need was a beautiful refinement.

So far, a big fat 3. Not nearly as interesting as their last album.

Wish I could find a working stream of this. Seems that Pitchfork has removed theirs. COE was definitely their dropping
point, in my opinion. Fire in our throats had so many epic moments, and COE just really lacked any of the emotional
drive that Fire contained. They sound like they're returning to form here though, which is fantastic. Please, someone
provide insight on where I can hear this.
