wow this is a pretty horrible review. besides the fact that you don't mention a single specific thing musically wrong, other than broad phrases about guitar parts (which are fantastic and not at all boring, even throughout 11 tracks). you attempted to use big words like "banal and derivative," but they're simply filler for the nothingness that is your review.
try having solid points if you want to rate an album 1.5. we get you don't like it. but thats probably because you're too busy trying to compose an intelligent sentence to actually listen to the amazing music.
Eli, your musical taste sucks. :]

"YOU DIDN'T MENTION THE MUSIC ENUFF OR THAT GUITAR RIFF THAT GOES SHPLANGABANGARANG AT 1:05 IN TRACK 05, 'my heart is broken here is an experimental song,'"
- every criticism of a 1.5 review for shitty post-hardcore ever

god forbid we talk about music in a music review SeaAne.
you must love big, important sounding words!

I'm not here to tell you how to talk about music but I don't know where some find it in their hearts to criticize music reviews for talking about themes and the vision etc. of the artist as well as how it relates to the world and backing it up with descriptions of the album's sound and lyrics etc. instead of a review where the writer goes "this is track ten where he changes time signatures and that makes it a SIXOUTOFFIVE"

"cool like what

no, because he doesn't GET it man. it's not really that great of an album, probably not a 4 like i have it now, its not very replayable but it's pretty cool for the like the first 10-15 listens. everything is musically "decent" on it, the production is bad but the fact that he compares to dbm2's just shows even more he doesn't get it because that's just over produced trash.
also racist as fuck btw, if you have to mention how something might sound racially insensitive it probably is. especially when you justify it by incorrectly saying the band doesn't care because honey revenge is about rape when it's not.
the kurt thing was mainly a joke because he admitted he doesn't know much about the band and it's obvious after he only mentions craig, the guy who's famous for being a retard but isn't necessarily the most loved singer this band has ever had

its well written but i dont think eli is down with brown town

you don't understand the "theme" or "vision" of DGD at all, that's where the suckiness comes in. you certainly have no concept of how it deals with the world, because the world loves it. if you're not a fan of DGD's "theme" of silliness and strangeness in music, then go listen to jazz or anything else. you obviously don't understand DGD as a whole to YOURSELF, therefore how could you possibly write about something you understand so little about?
it comes out sounding jaded and poorly composed (like the review).
