Traditionally I've found this band to be lopsided. Every album has some stellar tracks, and then some really piss poor tracks.



This is their first release that I've enjoyed all the way through. Indifferent to the album cover.

Kevin Barnes deserves higher review scores from us COME ON SPUTNIK! this album kicks ass for several reasons.

1. Some of the darkest, most brooding songs he's ever written

2. Slide Guitar

3. "She Ain't Speakin' Now" is now in my top 5 for of Montreal (top 3 of the year)

4. Has a terrifically throwback sound without sounding rehashed; Barnes always innovates

5. Honestly I haven't been this giddy over an LP since Flaming Lips gave us "The Terror" (Another LP that needs a bit more attention)

6. Loving the song with (what i think is) Nina Barnes on lead vocals.

7. Excellent opener; gets you right in the mood to kick back, relax, and be mind-splooged ON SOME REAL LEVELS
