I mean, I don't listen to this purely for the lyrics, but it does work as precedent for enjoying the music for someone who generally dislikes pop for its known wasteland of lyrics

It is a pretty generalized statement. There are some great guitar solos in pop punk. But you won't find any from the bands that
get featured on absolutepunk.
I never commented on the lyrics of this album. Though none of them impress me, but that's not really why I dislike this album.

What garners this a 1.5 then? That's a pretty aggressive rating so I'm jus wondering what exactly is so terrible about this that it deserves such a low rating?

I'm kind of over the hype (being from NZ I've been hearing about her for a lot longer than most of you), but I can't deny that the girl definitely has talent. And yeah it needs a little refinement, but she's 16. She's just getting started, and I can't wait to see her progression

A strong 3.5
I'm a NZer who generally doesn't like NZ music (or modern pop for the most part), but I really dug this EP. It is pop music in the truest sense of the word, but has a reverby minimalist aesthetic to it that I'd sooner associate with James Blake or Panda Bear or the last couple Radiohead albums than Lana Del Rey. And lyrically shunning breakups and fame in favour of a more cynical view of that really opulent pop lifestyle is refreshing. Plus she's younger than my little brother; she definitely gets kudos for achieving this at 16.
Looking forward to her album (:
