"thank you gyro. I'll be seeing him in about 3 weeks at a small festival in Essen, Germany. Tim Hecker will be performing too so it'll be one helluva show. needless to say (though I will), I can't wait."
i never got around to responding to this but i guess that tim hecker observation was kind of apt (not to toot my own horn lol). anywho, how was the show?

i feel songs like 'blow up' are things i'll listen to in later life (assuming i live that long) to reflect on the past. that first minute is so hauntingly beautiful/sad

oh it was the highlight of the entire festival. they put on a great set playing lots of the compositions using live instruments and had some live vocals as well. all in all a breathtaking experience.
agreed that "blow up" creates a wonderfully haunting yet soothing melancholy vibe.

awesome. i always wondered how more minimalist-driven music would translate to a live experience, especially in the case of hecker. a part of me wants to say i'd love to hear ravedeath live in its entirety, but then i feel like it wouldn't have the same effect as when i throw it on vinyl and lie down with my eyes shut listening.

what are you jamming to in 2014?
|

Album Rating: 4.5
well the room was pretty dark and a lot of people were kicking it back sitting or lying on the floor with their eyes closed just soaking in the sounds. some of the acts opted to play it all live, whereas some dig live mixing of their material and others chose to strip it down to a minimalist performance. Tim Hecker opted to go solo and to live mix his material, and did a damn good job at it.
well, right now I'm jamming Floex ^^. lot's of electronic music, not necessarily from 2014 either, just whatever good recommendations/finds I come across. check my latest list for some of the stuff I've been jamming a lot this week.

last week I was sifting through the Denovali roster searching for a nice mix between jazz, classical and just the right amount of electronics. well, needless to say I found this and got the jackpot. I also ordered "Notilus - s/t" and that shit is also amazing.
