Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are pretty great. Beady Eye, on the other hand...

...Yeah not much to write home about there.

Noel always was the talented one to be fair.

Both bands are a snooze. Noel had one of the hardest fall offs in pop music history.

Excellent review, pos, but I myself never understood the appeal of this album. Like you said, it's just blatantly unoriginal, and I could never look past that. Plus to me, every Oasis album sounds pretty much the same so there's only really need for one, and I think "What's The Story" is the one to get. "Live Forever" is their best song though I think. I'm still a Blur devotee for life though so maybe I'm biased.

@HolidayKirk I like Blur better but I also love Oasis's first three records and I also think their later stuff is inconsistant but has the occasional good moment so I do think you are a little harsh on them at times though I do agree that they are unoriginal and fell from their peak hard and fast but still great review!

Great debut album, my favorite has to be Columbia.

The production on here is laughable at times.

Oasis interviews > Oasis music

The closest this band came to genius was how they got the English press hanging on their every utterance. To be fair they were very funny in a lot of interviews, loads of wars of words with other bands.

The music is football terrace scally rock of the highest order though

Drunken karaoke anthems for a generation

Was all about Nirvana and Radiohead for me but yeah, I concede they were unbearably popular

Spiritual successors to Weller.

I hate Weller.

Nirvana and Radiohead>>>>>>>>>>>>>Oasis

Still rather enjoy the latter, in a chest beating 'look at me I'm a bit of a lad' kinda way.

They were very effective on their first few albums and their shenanigans made them a 'love to hate' band for me.

As with so many bands they then outstayed their welcome and became really boring.

Zak, terrace anthems are great on the terraces. Not so much so on Top of the Pops (RIP lol).
