Great review. I need to listen to this more, but I can't say I'm massively impressed. Although, the live dvd included is awesome.

"if the snare doesn't trouble you I have bad news for your ears..."
I like it actually! Hahaha. Somebody pointed out to me the hollow drum sound in Meshuggah's Koloss and it ruined it for me but I'm fine with it 'ere. Its a bit iffy on Nachash but that's about it for me.
It's more the open hihat, again mainly in Nachash in the opening beat, that gets me the wrong way. Like somebody scraping a ruler on a table and it sends goosebumps.

Sky Machine and Aeons are right up their with Deadman and New Day IMO. Nothing touches Change tho.

I kinda like Simple Boy and New Day better than Change but Change is still awesome.

Pfffrrrt. New Day.. best song.. pfffrrt.
Yeah Mongi, I mostly agree with Omaha. Stuff like:
"Ian’s vocal delivery for the most part is exceptional"
Give us some examples then ;). The wording here and there is a little iffy as well. Sentences like:
"However, the title track has an usual beauty to it and it actually leads into one of the standout numbers “Eidolon."
Usual should be unusual? Numbers (are you Dutch/German?) should be track/tune/song w/e.

"Jon Stockman also does something screaming in it and Karnivool has never done this before. It’s an odd choice because screaming is simply not Karnivool’s style."
LifeLike or Scarabs on Themata feature screams...

"Scarabs is an instrumental bro"
Never listened to it to the end though? Still has a scream... The reviewer says they've never done it before which is wrong
|
| |
lol it's essentially a sound effect it's not words that are screamed in Scarabs or Lifelike

Nevertheless, they are screaming vocals. And this is without mentioning the screams (screamed words, too) in Da-Reka and Featherweight off Persona. The point being that yeah, they have used screaming before.
