Yes, I have. It's more soul oriented rather than funk as his supporting band there is not the JBs. It's worth checking out as you can listen another side of James Brown. Another user recommended Love Power Peace which I'll listen in the near future.



You can also check his studio albums Say It Loud, I'm Black And I'm Proud and The Payback. Both are solid.

This is more energetic than Apollo. Its only drawback really is that some of the album is recorded in studio.

If y'all dig James Brown, you should check Charles Bradley. The guy was a professional James Brown impersonator before he started releasing his own stuff. Plus he's got a new record coming out this year, so now's a good time if any.
