agreed - this is perfect stripped back to the bare essentials. having said that, I love the arrangements on some of Leonard Cohen's albums and think those add quite a bit.

the 60s is my favourite decade but that's my biggest gripe. lots of records with overbearing intrusive string arrangements

i haven't noticed anything of the sort on cohen's early records, so there's no problem there.

just listen to Colorado from his selftitled, it just shows that he is best on his own. Somehow it adds to his voice, when he can't simply rely on some strings or whatever to bring out the feeling in his lyrics.

His self-titled album is brilliant. Lungs is seriously one of the best songs I've ever heard.

his live album is the best i've heard by him, mainly because it has all his great songs and it's just him and his guitar - and i really like his talking blues + jokes
