Review Summary: A Classic Album that changed music forever.

2 of 3 thought this review was well written

Someday Came Suddenly... One of the most beloved Death Metal albums ever constructed. In case you didn't know, Attack Attack! was the very first band to put Techno synths, throw it into Metal and stir it up and BAM! The very first "Post-Hardcore/Electronica" album ever made. Let's all give Attack Attack! an overwhelming round of applause. After this masterpiece of an album was made, many great bands followed behind like Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, Abandon All Ships, and countless others! Yes, they started a trend that changed the music industry forever. Now let's talk about the album.

This albums features probably the greatest screamer ever. Yes, Austin Carlile was the lead vocals for Attack Attack! on their first album. It's actually such a thrill to have this gem of an album recorded featuring this great vocalist, sometimes I take if for granted. His vocals were high class on this album, nothing different than you would here from Of Mice & Men. His harsh vocals blends in perfect with the synths and ground trembling breakdowns. The breakdowns on this album are the heaviest breakdowns AA! has ever produced. You can say this is he heaviest album they have ever made. But of course this band has VARIETY. They do a great job creating pop choruses and transitioning with brutal breakdowns. Another high point of the album is Jonny Frank's clean vocals. The auto-tune mixes PERFECT with the Pop synths giving in a classic mainstream Hip-Hop feel. Instrumentally this album is top notch. You will frequently hear groovy, catchy riffs but then suddenly a breakdown will hit and turn the whole flow of the song upside down added with classic metalcore riffs. The drumming is superior just listen to the breakdowns. Lyrically the album is a classic. Songs like "bro, Ashley here" gives you great advise about your self esteem. "The People's Elbow" can get you through a rough break-up.

Overall this album is just perfect. Here are a list of recommended tracks but I gotta sort them due to their great variety of musicianship.

Hip-Hop/Techno: Intro, Interlude

Pop: What Happens If I Can't Check My Myspace When We Get There?, Stick Stickly, Dr. Shavargo Pt.3

Heavy: Bro, Ashley's Here, The People's Elbow, Kickin' Wing! Animal Doctor.

Cancer is a 2 when compared to more immediately lethal, less treatable things, again, such as getting a power drill driven through your skull. Cancer survival is around 62% chance, you show me that 62% of people who get their brains converted to mush by a power drill survive.

62% is kinda serious... But whatever.

Assuming a rating is based on percentage of survival:

0/5 = 100% survival
0.5/5 = 90% survival
1/5 = 80% survival
1.5/5 = 70% survival
2/5 = 60% survival
2.5/5 = 50% survival
3/5 = 40% survival
3.5/5 = 30% survival
4/5 = 20% survival
4.5/5 = 10% survival
5/5 = 0% survival

Cancer's 62% survival falls closest to 60%, making it a 2/5. I'm willing to bet that getting a power drill driven through your skull is no more than 15%, and that's a conservative estimate. Probably is a 5, but I could never see it falling anywhere below a 4.5.
