Oh, and Dev: I've only heard this, Out of Sync, Nothing is certain and a bunch of EPs, is there anything else (older EPs, albums) from him you'd especially recommend? I'm also not too aware of his peers, I mean other people doing similar stuff (you know, "Autonomic")
|
| |
Open Spaces, The Gradient Project and The Pursuit/Frozen Shores were the ones I enjoyed quite a bit apart from those you listed.

Open Spaces, Symbol #1, The Gradient Project and his RA mix off the top of my head (first is an LP and the other two are EPs)
As for other "autonomic" stuff - dBridge's The Gemini Principle is a stone cold classic and pretty much kicked off the movement; Resolution 653 by Instra:mental as well, though that borders more on techno than anything (also grab dBridge and Instra:menta's FabricLive mix). Test Dream by Consequence (Consequence (NZ) in the db), Bilateral by ENA, Flowers Of Destruction by Felix K, Cheap Shots by Zero T, Ritual Dance by Genotype, Survival by Survival, Delay No More by SpectraSoul, Lucky Guess by Random Movement, Cancel Standard by They Live and Burning Shadows by Loxy & Resound. You'll also want Mosaic Vol. 1 which came out on dBridge's Exit imprint

Thanks both, that'll keep me entertained

What did you think of Bilateral? I thought it was pretty boring. Flower Of Destruction on the other hand I enjoyed quite a bit, can only recommend that.
Don't know any of the other stuff, will check.

Loved it, recommended it etc
Nah I think it's a great album that kind of borders on the whole autonomic sound before going all abstract and crazy and checking in with the deepchord crew
|
| |
sounds like it's time to give it another listen

Dev giving recs in my thread, hooray!
Seriously though, thanks for the recs Dev and tree. I know it's a blasphemy but I've only heard The
Astral Traveller from ASC so I didn't really know where to go next. Rutracker has a HUGE
discography of his work, including multiple EPs and stuff.
BTW, the Electronic Question of the day: what is "autonomic" you are all talking about? Can you
describe it a little bit? Thanks folks =)

It's just a fancy word for minimal drum & bass music

Also, I only have 2.08gb of ASC :[
|
| |
A label as well as a podcast run by dBridge & Instra:mental. Also used as a synonym for this kind of
minimal DnB sound.
The disco on ru is what I have, can only recommend getting that. There are quite some releases in
there that haven't made it to the database yet as well ;)
As for what you should check out next specifically I would go with the albums Typhoner, Dev and me
mentioned. And also his EP '77' with Ulrich Schnauss. Haven't listened to much more myself yet.
edit: hehe I have 5.37GB : P You definitely have listened to more though ; )

| |
Gotcha, merci beaucoup ^_^
Yeah, he has made SO much stuff it's pretty amazing! I'll work my way slowly but surely.
EDIT: And thanks tree!

His new stuff is pretty good, too. It's more techno oriented.

Can't wait for all the "autonomic" labels popping up on the site once the tagging system is introduced ;]
