@psyclonus
a smidge moronic to call a viking death metal band mainstream, wouldn't you say?

Amon Amarth is pretty popular so they are pop.

Sup Jaccy.

Canny Corpse are popular because they used the shock factor to get noticed. Amon Amarth are popular because they make pretty decent, accessible music.

really enjoying this.

@Shogun
they're more melodic than death, regardless of the vocals. it's easy listening to some folk. there's underground metal and there's mainstream metal, like these guys. easily accessible for the masses i'd say.

It's better than Surtur Rising but that album was still great.

"it's too 'safe' and mainstream for my tastes but that's just me!"
This is death metal with 99% harsh vocals forged together with blistering riffs and shattering drums. Safe...maybe a little (still rocks hard like pretty much ALL metal (expand yourself)). Mainstream...they earned it.

" Changing styles subtly through the years, the Swedes have stayed true to their path. "
So does it change styles or does it stay true to its path? Perhaps say something like 'Only changing
styles subtly...'
" which starts with some poor guy getting his ribs broken from the back and having his lungs
protrude from his body) "
Unclear what object is "protruding:" are you are referring to the lungs themselves protruding (which
is absurd given that they are soft organs) or the weapon/rib which is piercing the lung?
" but this is a band that knows almost no innovation and hardly tries new ideas "
Sorry but this is too hyperbolic. While Amon Amarth does not innovate much, they do to some degree.
Which is why you specifically mentioned their evolution earlier. They do have some minor innovation,
and definitely evolution: mostly in drum parts, production quality and Hegg's growls. Further, on
this very album they did the song 'Hel' which as you mention doesn't work so well, but it is
definitely something different than what Amon Amarth usually does. And you say as much in your
review. So how can you also possibly say "they know almost no innovation." At least mention that Hel
was "innovative" if a bit weak to resolve the contradictory messages in the review.
Otherwise solid review and I agree with pretty much everything except for just the above edits

lol I wrote this in 25 minutes and have been writing reviews here for close to 6 years I had no
intention of having it (or any review) completely correct grammatically like it was my Master's Thesis
or something.
And no it's not unclear what is protruding. Synonym for protrude is stick out...I clearly say that his
lungs are protuding....so yeah.

How could anyones lungs protrude? They're organs filled with air. Ribs can protrude. I made no
comments about grammar. I
was speaking of content, and patent contradiction in the review.
