Some boring moments but it held it's own. I love the opener and 3rd song.

First listen: Not taking away from Koi No Yokan, but I feel like the atmosphere and open spaced out jams that was lacking on it is really made up here.

Basically just sounds like any other post-rock/metal, but I have an ongoing love affair with Chino and Isis so this is like the best thing ever

Yet you 5'd Altered State

I think even you would admit that Altered State has a lot more energy than this. I wouldn't compare the bands anyway, their approach to atmospherics are entirely different.

I was hoping this album would be more in the vein of Deftones' lighter tracks. Not at all.

post-rock/metal is not supposed to be energetic so that point = invalid

also, one member of deftones and 3/4 members of isis... yet you expected it to sound like deftones

??? My point was that the bands aren't really comparable.

I recall that when this band was created, the Isis members had said they didn't want to retread old territory(sonically). I'm not a big Isis fan so forgive me if I'm wrong, bit doesn't this sound kinda similar?

Anyway, I said "HOPE". I didn't "EXPECT" anything.

You implied that because it has more energy, Altered State is better than this.

Maybe I conveyed myself incorrectly than.

P.S. Listened to the song Holy Tears. Would have much preferred that + Chino.

It's no bad but... meh... I think I need to give it one more spin.

Team Sleep and Crosses are better side projects imo.

"I was hoping this album would be more in the vein of Deftones' lighter tracks. Not at all."

Well it's Isis doing the instrumentals, not Deftones so it's going to sound different.

After listening to this a few times it does sound a bit samey. May have to lower to a 3.5.
