One of metal undergrounds biggest hate these days is the return of the analogue stoner sound, it seems that since the hipsters Wolfmother made it big that they were so hated that people started turning their backs on this old school/new school return to form and as bands like The Sword, Viking skull and ideed Jex Thoth emerged from the underground the jobseeking allowance metal scene who live in their parents basements had a field day. But all is not what it seems when it comes to these bands, they eithear fail majorly at creating an oldschool sound and end up making long albums of 70 mins plus i.e. Reverend Bizzare with so much plodding that if their albums were scaled down could be potential classics, or you can have a band with that old warm occult feeling with songs that sound so old and fresh you have to look twice to see if they are cover tracks, because hooks and songwriting in this style deserve classic potential and that indeed is Jex Thoth.
