I was a little scared to buy this album today after seeing all of the negative reviews. I've only listened to it one time through, but I'm actually liking it. It's definitely not Dave's best work, but I already like it more than Thirteen, which I thought was pretty mediocre. I think what I like the most about Super Collider is that it's a lot different than other Megadeth albums. It sounds a lot more hard rock-ish instead of metal. It's a bit of a fresh air. I hear a lot of experimentation on it and I like that.

I saw them live last week. They played a few songs from this album and the songs really sucked. They lacked of feeling and punch. Really disappointed!

I think this album will grow on me. Not bad at all and some good ideas. But unfortunately I'm not a big fan of Shawn. Very monotonous and uninspired drumming on his part... It drags down the overall quality of the album imo.

but how can something be dragged down when it's on the bottom

As I said I don’t think it’s that bad… With a more diverse and ambitious drumming several songs would be pretty decent. I’ll deepen my first impression on the album but probably I’ll give it a 3 or 3.5

Never actually listened to Megadeth at all. Doesn't seem like someone I'd want either.

This album sucks balls, it isn't representative of their actual good material. Check out Rust in Peace, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? or Endgame for their best stuff.

I hated this album when I first heard it. Now that I've given it a few more listens without reading reviews first, it grew on me a little. I think it's a solid 3. It's on par with Cryptic Writings, which falls in the average-good area.
