"Sail into the sunset fire", "Set fire to the island" and "Defenders of Bu-Tik Palace" are great. Albums sound really solid overall, although a bit short, imho

I don't think it'll happen, but I hope they eventually make album another that is just as dark/haunting as Seediq Bale was

You guys really feel Bale was dark and haunting? I don't get that from it at all. Stuff like Evoken or We Lost the Sea or Daylight Dies or Gris fits that description for me. Bale is more like evil and badass.
And my first impression of this is that it's slightly less evil and noticeably more badass.

That's a waaay better description than my previous. Opposite wise for me, I would say it's more evil than it is badass. The only album I actually consider to be badass is Bethlehem's Dark Metal. :D

*checks out Bethlehem*

BTW, I don't know how I'm only just realizing this but Doris Yeh is O_O wow! Might actually be even sexier than the riffs on this album.

Album Rating: 4.5 | Sound Off
It's interesting that this is now their highest rated album. Guess consensus is that they've managed to perfect their sound on this album while Seediq Bale was the indicator of their potential, Mirror of Retribution suffered from unoriginality and Takasago Army was a bit of a sudden shift.

This definitely isn't better than Seediq Bale. Still rules though.

It's a shame how under the radar this record was. It's a vast departure from their sound on Seediq Bale but this is easily one of the best melodic death metal records to come out of last year.
|
| |
yea
|
| |
may just be their second best album, lots of great moments here but seediq had the sickest riffs
