Yeah, last year was bad, this year's been pretty strong so far, though.
And, of course, I took this recommendation from you, buddeh! It's pretty boss. I do feel like it gets a little repetitive - I think it's intentional repetitiousness, but it does tend to get a little nauseating toward the end of the album when you're on full-on intense listen mode. Or, at least, it did for me.
First listen blew me away, though.

I can see where you're coming from. The tracks at the album's beginning definitely pique my interest more as a whole, because their sound surprises you a bit. The later ones' sounds have already been explored a bit, so they aren't as exciting.
My biggest gripe with this album is that the guest vocalists' performances are pretty uneven. In particular, the one song with Heathers really irks me, when the girl comes in all the way. Which is such a shame, because the song's musical backbone in that moment is perfect.

menomena, the walkmen, tame impala, killer mike, el-p, deftones, burial, the mountain goats, hammock, mount eerie, swans, bloc party (i like it but i know most people disliked it), rivet, gaza, dark time sunshine, passion pit, aesop rock, andrew bird, dum dum girls, oh no, child actor, how to dress well, cat power, billy woods, maps and atlases, niechec, fiona apple, kendrick lamar, tallest man on earth, frank ocean, converge, why?, islands, john talabot, john k samson, rush, future of the left, mewithoutYou, portico quartet, hilltop hoods, grimes, etc., all had very good albums/eps.
