Got me excited.

So far this sounds like a mix of handover and remission which is not bad at all
Im still hoping for another last rights but that will never happen

Why is this in the Metal section?

The album is good, but since their 2004 comeback Mythmaker is still their strongest set. JaHer is one of their best songs ever, I love that acoustic guitar intro so much.

^ well to me any of their 2000's material is better then Greater Wrong, that album was a little too commercial for my taste in Skinny Puppy, too many tunes sounded dance-able/electro popish...then again Ogre did say he contributed and added to most of Key's compositions and thats how his material sounded at the time. This album is pretty awesome tho!
"Im still hoping for another last rights but that will never happen"
yeah but when bands try to make a "part 2" of anything latter down the road it usually sucks

not last rights part 2 but another album dark dense and emotional like last right would be great

Ogre sounds like Ogre again, instead of the nasally little Ogre he's been lately. This was their best album in awhile. Can't wait for whatever they put out next.
Thanks for the review. Glad to see a band like Skinny Puppy getting some recognition.

Not at the same level of too dark park, still is pretty enjoyable.

Oh my god the clipping, such a poor mastering job. Look at the waveforms on these tracks, they are all hugging the ceiling.

Listening to it now. Not sure what I think about this yet, but whatever my rating is, tsudenama made it go up half a point.

IMHO, this album lacks bite. It sounds more like a collab between Ohgr and Cevin Key as opposed to a real SP album.

.....Thats kinda what Skinny Puppy has always been

Naw dude, Goettel was the best part of SP. The last three albums sound as if Cevin Key is just
writing
pop tracks for Ohgr and Mark Walk to mess with prior to release. This album just doesn't have the
same
heart as the band's early work.
RIP Dwayne
EDIT: After repeated listening, I think this album is much better than I initially thought. I still
think it can't touch their older stuff, but I have to admit that Key & Co. have really moved on
since Goettel's death. Personally I've always thought that Key was the strongest part of SP, but I'm
glad he and Ohgr have been able to work out their differences--IMHO the new albums (Greater Wrong-
Weapon) have been good examples of stylistic compromise between the two musicians. I really wish SP
would evolve to start making more complex music in the vein of Download, but SP has always had its
own distinct style from Remission to present. Long live the Dog.

Can't even touch Too Dark Park or VIVIsectVI, but this isn't too bad. I haven't listened to anything besides this and their late 80s/ early 90s stuff, but if the rest of the comeback albums are at least close to this I should probably give each of them a few spins. There are definitely a few really good tracks here- Paragun > Survivalisto > Tsudanama is a pretty fantastic three song stretch and helps make up for some of hte early tracks not doing much for me.

I like this. Yeah, it's not brutal and harsh like old SP, but what do you expect? These guys are in their 50's.
Very enjoyable album overall, not amazing though or anything. 'Terminal' is one of the best damn SP tracks ever
