"John Sykes rules on this"
Agreed. He's a very competent guitarist.

This is Lizzy's 2nd best album arguably. Absolutely loaded with hard jams.

Such a badass album. "Baby Please Don't Go", "Thunder and Lightning", "Cold Sweat" are my favorites.

Eh, not sure that's the Thin Lizzy that I like. Sounds too much like 80s metal and lost a lot of the charm of the earlier releases.
I can understand that would have been the natural evolution for them though, it's the typical 70s rock band entering the 80s thing.

Okay Part3001, I will add my comment about this song. First let me say I am a Christian man. Most people would think something's wrong with me for listening to secular music. But I judge music on its aim, its meaning. I try not to be judgemental. I used to listen to Thin Lizzy before I got saved. So I don't have a problem listening now. I love this song! It touches me more than any other song on the album. The Holy War comes off as a very religious song. Not Christian, but very watchful of the good vs. evil spirits. Phil even mentions Jesus versus Satan in the song. The song is so direct about spirituall battles that I would almost call Phil Lynott a Christian. Of course I know he wasn't. He died a very sad heroin addict. It's people like him that I pray for. "And no one (but Jesus) will win this war, this is the way, this is the law".
