first of all.
i run http://www.slipknot-metal.com so i'm a big Slipknot fan
but over the 4 albums, i think s/t is still the best
MFKR - 7/10
S/T - 10/10
Iowa - 7/10
Vol 3 - 8/10
i think Iowa was a let down and they just went with all that screaming **** cos thats what they thought they had to do to be a heavy band. VOl 3 shows the opposite, with some really ****ed up light songs (which obviously influenced from Stone Sour).
for me. when i heard their first demo, Don't Get Close, i was shocked. this song really does suck *** and i thought they were over.. but then Duality was released and well, re-lite the magic.. Although i do think Duality is just the money spinnin radio song like wait and bleed. but well, awesome video.. awesome song.. people will love it
but yeh i cant say i agree with the review and honestly think vol 3 is better than Iowa.

Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) Review
Author: Duality515
Ok, so I finally got ahold of Vol 3, and after listening, i was ready to die. There is no doubt in my mind that slipknot has changed but to tell you the truth the new style is by far the best metal i have heard to date. The new album defines metal, i dont care what anyone says, the new album seperates real metal from the death, black, goth, nu, and every other metal there is. The album goes as far as pianos, triangles, and acoustic guitar.. yes slipknot has turned acoustic into metal.. who says you need
12 foot full stacks and distortion to make metal?
01. Prelude 3.0 -
This song is amazing, completely done by the mad man 133 Mhz (aka Craig Jones), it mixes dark evil feelings with deep techno like sounds, now dont get scared cause that can be misinterpreted. The song is a great start to an amazing album.
02. The Blister Exists -
In a personal opinion, this is my favorite song on the album, is heavy, its insane, and the snare solo is spine tingling. Assisted by
a full high school drumline, the snare rings out for atleast 2 minutes. The riffs are crazy, and the beat that the song keeps would blow
any real slipknot fan away, youve heard the live version, but the album version is by far the song on the album that will make you begging for more.
03. Three Nil -
definitely one of the most heavy songs on the album. This is an exact mix of old and new slipknot, and its probably the closest you are going
to get to the old slipknot, and coreys screaming, there is really no screaming on this album but with three nil you get pretty **** close
with the introduction line, 1.. 2.. 3.. Nil, you will know that slipknot is being serious when it comes to the new album.
04. Duality -
Ahh yes, slipknots first single off the new album, do i need to say anymore? HAVEN'T YOU HEARD IT YET?! This song has been number 1 for weeks in a row
on radio stations all acrossed the control, and rapidly played on MTV2, even featuring a few MTV appearances. The song is the Wait And Bleed of the new
cd, bringing insanity into the eyes of those with virgin ears. Heavy, Fast, with a dark look to it.
05. Opium of the People -
This has been a really talked about song, taken off of the jagermeister music tour early so it wouldnt leak.. for those of you that were at one of the
first couple jager shows, you know about this song, and the rumours are true, heavy, fast, insane. No screaming, no satan, no swearing, just metal, that will
tear your heart out and wont be able to put it back in. The chorus gets light at some points but the singing is fast to go with the music, not to mention
it opens with an awesome guitar solo.
06. Vermillion (part 1) -
This song is yet again another big thumbs up, the beat is intentionally confusing, yet your mind knows why, this song is heavy meets axe to your forehead, it has
its to my suprise moments but not in a bad way. Cutting off at the end for you to wait to hear part to, the lyrics are awesome, and awakening.
07. Pulse Of The Maggots -
For those of you were staying up late to hear the launch of this song on slipknot1.com, good for you, you heard one of the most insane songs to hit the net. Heavy,
original, for the fans. Kicking off with the fire horn, and a beautiful speech by the god by the name of Corey Taylor.
08. Welcome -
Sigh. Again with an already released song, i know alot of you out there havent heard it though. This song, i keep forgetting is on this cd haha. Not that it isnt a good
song, it just came out at a bad time, and we were all busy obsessing with pulse of the maggots and duality. This song is good, its heavy, and it is full of heavy riffs and
guitar solos. Good song, has its ups and downs.
09. Circle -
Ah yes, another big favorite of mine on the album... This sound starts off with a tape recorded fast forwarding.. and stopping and repeated haha. It then rings out the acoustic.
This song is mostly acoustic, and it is the song we all heard before the band came out on stage at the Jagermeister Music Tour. The sogn was written by Jim, who has a strong
acoustic intrest. The song has its Stone Sour moments but you can tell its slipknot, because the lyrics and coreys tone tend to go against stone sours style. I dont know why,
but i love the song, i dont see how any slipknot fan could hate this song. It echoes alot, and at the end it goes off acoustic and craig an sid do some work at the end.
10. Before I Forget -
This song is yet again another good song (the whole cd is regardless), the song has a good beat and the chorus is phenominal. Definitely one of the top songs on the album, the name
might give you the wrong view on the song, but it defys its own name. Heavy riffs, good singing, what else can i say. It reminds me of liberate only less repetative and more singing.
11. The Nameless -
The nameless is like Before I Forget only more dark, it has its own beat, and heavy riffs, but its really evil.. Not evil as in satan, evil as in dark, behind the heavy riffs, depression,
not suicidal depression, like.. hate. I dont know how to explain this song, its really good, the riffs are excellent, the lyrics make you want to listen to surfacing!
12. Vermillion (part 2) -
This song is acoustic oh yes, it has its ups and downs, deifnitely owned by circle though. Its a dark acoustic song, definitely taking all the feelings that were mixed into part 1
and force feeding them down your throat, this song i can explain it as pretty much slipknot slitting tenecious d's throats. rock on. this is the greatest and best song in the world.. not a tribute.
13. The Virus of Life -
This sogn is completely ****ing dark, 9 out of 10 middle fingers. The song is fast, heavy, and evil. I just get a really evil feeling when listneing to this song, Corey gets really into it, as Mick and Jim
destroy your ears without blowing out the amps with people equal ****. This song is actually one of the best, great display of original material.
14. Danger, Keep Away -
Ahh yes, this song was written for Coreys wife Scarlet, about a stalker.. and Corey is that stalker. In this song, supposedly all the members in the band sing, which actually after
listening i do believe this is true, but time will tell. This song is full of alot of mixed feelings, im not sure 100% understand it yet, but maybe thats a good thing. Very good song to end the cd with,
short, unlike the 14 minute long IOWA, and no hidden track like Eeeyore 15 minutes into scissors.
Thats it for Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses), in my opinion it is there best cd, sure its changed, but change din a good way. Instead of conspiring in to the rest of the metal world and being stereo typed
as the freaks in the jump suits who you dont even know what there saying, for anyone who thinks that, listen to Vol 3, i garuntee you will change you opinion. Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) hits stores May 25th
2004 through road runner records, make sure to check it out.
