Really good review. Either the band did this on purpose to get more fans or they really have run out

of ideas for deep songs. The repetitive structure and bland choruses immediately prevent this album

from being really meaningful.

Musically, I liked this album a lot. I have the typical gripes with the vocals though. Boring choruses, boring vocal lines in general. And the layering makes me want to cut.

Despite some boring, and extremely bland choruses, there's a few standouts which make this album more appealing to me than it should be. A 4 may be pushing it, but a few tracks really kick ass. I was expecting much more from the choruses for sure though. But no song is bad, just a few 2.5 songs.

Some of the choruses remind me of Labonte choruses on their recent shitty album.

I was also thinking that the choruses seem like copies of what every other fading metalcore band is

putting out. My issue is that I care about KsE and do not want them to go down that road. I guess we

should be happy that the band is still making sick riffs for us.

I have to say that while I disagree with your overall score, I can definitely see how you would give it that. I'm particularly biased because I'm a HUGE fan of Jesse's other projects (mostly Times of Grace and The Empire Shall Fall). The one thing I will say is that the singles and the song that was leaked are definitely the strongest on the album. I could have those 3 songs on loop for days and not get tired, but the rest of the album is pretty typical.

To whoever said that some of the choruses sound like the crap Labonte's been putting out in the latest ATR album, I have to completely disagree. It took me A LOT of listens to even begin to be okay with having bought that album. I bitched at them on their FB page about how shitty their single was and they said it was a necessary change in order to remain relevant in the business, which is bullshit. They essentially defined sell out with the radio friendly songs on that album, which is almost about half of them. That and have you really listened to both albums a few times all the way through? ATR keeps getting consistently worse, while this album is an actual improvement (IMO) on KSE's self titled.

Also, anytime you try to make a fucking power ballad/love song (What if I Was Nothing on ATR's latest), having someone scream "girl" in the background every few lines is just fucking garbage. I listen to that song whenever I need a good laugh.

funny, i actually looked for a review of killswitch engage because I thought the other cds were better, this one is really good but to be brutally honest, it actually sounds like there are only 3 songs on this cd, am i getting old? 41 or do all of them sound about the same. but those 3 songs really are awesome lol.
