Coming from the guy who had to make an alt because he was too embarrassed of his high school opinions.

That account was for a fresh start to rerate things as well as a fresh start for commenting because I find a lot of my old comments cringey which they are. I’m not embarrassed by my opinions why would I be lol. Besides I’m back on here anyways

Of all the places for an argument, I would have not expected it on a Sade thread, but there you go

Well he started it!

I'm not sure what your issue with my opinion is anyway. Would you have been happier if I said it wasn't good background music? Do you not like this album?

It’s a classic. Far more than just background music.

I didn't say it was neither of those.

Wanted to check this ever since I watched Shaun of the Dead. Will get to it eventually.

funny how much critical resuscitation this band/lady's career has received in the past few years, even though obviously a lot of people loved the music the whole time. I think it's a force for good, that resuscitation: she really did seem to prefigure a lot of the loungier elements of soul-inflected indie pop, which I think is essentially the claim of a new crop of critics today (whereas the "rockist" class of critics would have been like, pffff)
I had a 2CD greatest hits album that I drove around to for a year and it was good stuff. remember liking "is it a crime?", "the sweetest taboo," and "love is stronger than pride" the best. stuff on this album might be a little chintzy (?) for me
had no idea she was born in nigeria

Lots of people love Sade, but she's still sort of a niche thing. I don't think anyone dislikes here really, it's just whether you've heard her or not.

I thought she was pretty popular

Of course! But pubs like Pitchfork weren’t saying “Diamond Life is a top 10 album of the 80s” etc. Changing demographics in who reviews music obv a huge part of this albeit not in some simple one-to-one way
Of course ten minutes after I mention Nigeria I read about the brutal fucking news out of there. Weird.

No need to ask, he's a smooth operatooooooorrr
