Promising Albany pop-punk act State Champs step up & provide an exciting preview for their upcoming debut LP with the 4 track 'Overslept' EP... Although, even calling it 4 tracks is a stretch, since the opener is a 40 second long instrumental. The remaining 3 tunes, however, are all winners, signifying an impressive evolution courtesy of tighter musicianship, streamlined production, memorable melodies & infectious hooks. Meanwhile, none of the energetic quintet's prior strengths disappear, with Derek DiScanio's convincing vocal range, Evan Ambrosio's propulsive drumming & the buzzing dual guitar attack all returning.
