Ipod, you've never heard Darkflight? Think you would like it. By the way, my list of bands to check out has nearly doubled because of your (excellent) reviews. Stop it.

Really enjoying this so far. Clean vocals remind me of Opeth/Katatonia.

Utterly compelling. This is arguably the most promising one-man metal band since Lars Jensen's Myrkgrav. And, oh – what tantalizing progressive death metal it promises! This is what Katatonia and Opeth have been trying to vomit up for the past decade. (And failing miserably, I might mourn.)

Scintillating acoustics. Demiurgic howling. Beastial riffing. If the lyrics are anywhere as decent as 2007's "From Below," I'll have to haplessly jizz all over myself. Right. Now.

Incidentally, who the bloody uninformedly hell insisted this was "funeral doom"? I expected catatonic, funerary hymns to ill-forgotten forest gods; instead, I get the alluring love-child of early career Katatonia and Opeth. Esoteric's "The Pernicious Enigma" this is patently not.

Mislabelling aside, though... Good God! It's so refreshing to hear the well-worn path the Swedes paved reinvigorated with steamy young Norwegian blood. And no, I could not have rephrased that to sound less creepy.

it's brickwalled to the point where the drums distort whenever they play anything and it's a complete headache

but then metalheads have never cared about that (but they should)
