yeah it's a pop post-rock album. but then you've never particularly been a fan of the pretty or romantic side of post-rock anyway, have you noctus? you prefer more dark/ambient/heavy post-rock usually? this is a pop version of the earth is not a cold dead place -- an album that you don't like in the first place. it makes sense you wouldn't like this, i don't think it's for you.

There's really no point in having this argument, because no side is going to win tbh.

wait wait wait DarkNoctus doesn't like The Earth is a Cold Dead Place?
alright, everything he says is invalid
|

this album gets better as it goes along. im not a big fan of drift (the marching drums and heaviness is out of place with the rest of the album). texas is stunning, perhaps the best song.

yeah, i guess not. i mean god is an astronaut toys with the idea of pop but certainly not in the same way, it's usually much darker.

This epitomizes average post-rock.

Actually have to agree with Noctus, though I'm enjoying this album at the moment, I've only just started listening to it. I can see it has nearly no reply value, and I'm worried if I pay too much attention to it, I will see how crap it is. It was immediately uplifting, but because of it's lack of subtlety and anything deeper than what you hear on the first listen, I doubt I'll be spinning this for more than a week or so.

subtlety is what i look for in music, usually
this has absolutely none of it
or anything, for that matter
the only thing this album has going for it is that it's easy to digest and how on earth is that really a good thing

I hate to intervene but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Art isn't about complexity.

its uplifting. first time i heard this album i was feeling sick and miserable, but by half way through the album i was outside going for a walk in the night with a big smile on my face. it's one of the most uplifting albums i've ever heard. always cheers me up.

Don't worry, I wasn't blaming you. Are you always this disrespectful to people that happen to appreciate something you find dull, though?

i don't find it dull, i find it awful in every single way
don't take any offense to what i say though, i mean it in jest [:

noctus do you like moonlit sailor?

Album Rating: 1.5
no idea. any recommendations on what i should hear?
|
| |
well i wouldnt exactly recommend them to you, i was just curious if you liked them. lights and motion are pretty similar to them except moonlit sailor are much more dedicated to being a fun, summery pop post-rock band. really pretty and eits-influenced, so i put them in the same category as lights and motion, like a daytime, summer version compared to lights and motion being night time / winterish.
these are all from their latest album which i really enjoy:

edit: in fact moonlit sailor are much more "pop" in the fact most of their songs tend towards a verse/chorus structure rather than crescendocore.
