Dev did have pure hatred of a highly refined level, but he's always had a mischievous sense of bating the crowd for his own amusement, ala Mike Patton or Andy Kauffman, where as Phil actually has that swagger. Its just who he is.

Yeah, plus Dev was pretty much just an antisocial misanthrope, whereas around that time Phil was overdosing on heroin and almost dying on a regular basis, so one definitely had a shittier life than the other...

Also I've never heard of Andy Kauffman but if he's anything like Dev or Mike (two of my favourite singers) I'd love to learn more! Is he in a band?
