All their pre-Grievances material is a little disjointed despite being somewhat enjoyable. The bookends on this are really good.

About to get on it now.

This is probs their most cohesive pre-Grievances album (although tbh the scatty-to-smooth progression throughout Cosmology more or less holds together too)

It's a bit dry tbh but competent enough to convey their sound

Idk I love how this and the 2 after it all have their own personality while still being intense and soothing at the same time.

Lol aside from Opalescent and Crystal Cascades I don't get anything soothing at all from Grievances

Eh maybe soothing isn’t the right word idk but I love it.

Can agree with that for sure hehe, how'd you rank their discog?

I haven’t heard the first 2 yet but so far I’d go Grievances > Time > Astraea.

Oooh cool think we're very much on the same page! Cosmology is a solid album, but their debut is silly and fun; hope you enjoy checking em

The vox on Hysterics can be a bit hard to digest, there's A LOT of what I'd call 'yapping' & most of it is completely unnecessary, it's a shame because there's some really cool ideas buried beneath it all. Cosmology has a couple of their best tracks but it feels like a band in transition, in trying to control their chaos something was lost, yet it still isn't particularly cohesive.
I need to revisit all their older material (again) admittedly, but my more recent impression was that it hasn't aged all that well, once you get over the 'wow, this is bonkers' novelty.

This band has grown on me if anything. I wasn’t super impressed at first but they got way better with time.
