Do people seriously prefer this to Aratamemashite?
|

I kinda do, yeah. I think they're equally good but I prefer this one a little bit, it has some of my favorite stuff by Midori.

Ooh could you explain a bit? I get that they pushed to develop the melodic parts of their songwriting on this, but it sounds a bit bland compared to chaotic perfection they had on Aratamemashite

I find this one slightly more varied than Aratamemashite, like you say it develops their melodic parts but it has enough of the chaos for me, hell, in the most chaotic tracks it's like they're almost completetly out of control. I suppose I prefer when they make something more melodic, Swing is my favorite track by them and I usually prefer tracks with more focus on melody. Also, in Aratamemashite and Sekando it just sounds like they're trying to make some fun noise (to say it in one way), but this one feels like they tried to polish things at least a little, maybe that's why it sounds a bit bland but also why I like it a bit more.

Fair fair, I can get behind that reasoning. I dig Swing and some of the similar tracks here, but I definitely prefer their earlier style for the fun and excitement. It's good to see them stretch it out in places here though - the opener in particular is lovely

I can see why some people prefer this one. I feel like this one has more potential to grow on me.
