I was going to mention this in the first comment with the Halifax samples, but I forgot. Mike Hanau started up another band after he parted ways with Halifax. It's called Me The Nomad. Unfortunately, the band is pretty obscure and hard to find videos or streams of full versions of the songs. They have released two EPs so far. Here are acoustic versions (which don't really do the originals justice sadly but it's all I could find) of two of his songs from Me The Nomad:

Both EPs are on Amazon and Itunes, where you can listen samples of each song, and they are also fully streaming on Spotify if anybody wants to check them out.

Good for you! What's it like there? I bet it's nice.

Nice review, pos'd. I loved listening to these guys back in the day. This review makes me want to dust off their cd and get back into it.
|
| |
Yeah, I just started listening again and that nostalgia hit me like a fucking sledgehammer haha.
|

There are quite a few bands that do that for me, I went to so many concerts with friends in high school. Oh, good times. Life was easier back then haha.

I haven't gotten the chance to see them yet, they are one of my favorites. I have seen Hawkboy twice, but it's just not the same.

Hey, thanks signal!
How did you guys first find out about Halifax? Its been bugging me, but I cant remember how I came across A Writers Reference. All I know is Sydney was the first song I heard by them.

Back in the day, I loved Drive-Thru records, so I just looked into all of their bands. I loved Finch, Hidden in Plain View, Rx Bandits, so I gave them a shot. They just became another awesome DT records band haha.

I haven't listened to much Finch, but I've heard good things about them.

I would definitely give them a listen. They have a fantastic vocalist, and you can't go wrong with either one of their full lengths.

I've only heard Worms Of The Universe and What It Is To Burn. I will have to check out some more of them, I've heard they are good post hardcore.
|
| |
They definitely are; I would go for Say Hello to Sunshine first. It's varied, interesting, and a bit more genre-defying.
|
| |
Totally agree, Andcas. I actually love all of their stuff, the dual vocals really get me.

Dual vocals? I'm interested in that.

^yes! HIPV is definitely slept-on, and I never understood why.
|

Many bands end up doing that, I still hate that The Receiving End of Sirens broke up. They were another great band of my youth.

Will do, Andcas.
Totally agree about Receiving End of Sirens. Their stuff is so good. I didn't find out about them until they were already broken up.
|
| |
Yeah, definitely. I happen to like their stuff much better than Casey's other project The Dear Hunter as well, so I would've much preferred to see where they would have ended up.

Walk Harbor City is awesome. I've listened to it 3 or 4 times now.
