I disagree with some of your points, but I do get the rating.
I've been a KISS fan my whole life and I have accepted that they'll never write anything of significance for the rest of my life.
However, this album is pretty decent. They're age shouldn't necessarily be used as an argument, but if you'd asked anyone 20 years ago if these guys would still be around, I'm sure your get a resounding, "NO."
This is way better than Sonic Boom- I've been enjoying 4-5 of the tracks thoroughly, even if just to satisfy nostalgic needs.

So many questions getting asked in the comments section. My turn: If you people dislike the band as much as you do...WHY WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME? It takes time to come up with all these witty comments....when you could be using it more wisely on something you actually like. But then....you wouldn't get to be a smart ass trying to piss off fans that really don't give a shit about your opinion in the first place. Just curious....cause I know I don't. And it's a damn good album. No skin off my back whether you see it or not.

Unfortunately so many of the staff reviews on this (once great) site are written by people who already know what they're going to write, and then just fill in a couple of details once the album comes out. This is especially notable for low rated albums. There are so many albums that these staffhacks never intend to give good scores to, and then just post what they consider to be a funny review so that the kids on this site will think they are FULL OF WIN!
And I have no problem with the ratings being low, but the problem is that half of the reviews aren't even about the album at hand.
