I don't mind her, but I feel like her voice is too thin for a solo artist. She sounds good singing over wubs though, maybe she should stick to that. The arrangements and music on this album are quite nice though.

Anything could happen sucks. Just saw her perform on conan. The keyboards are like 2 chords held over 8 measures. Awful composition.

Loaded with strings, harps, choirs & multi-tracked vocals, Ellie Goulding follows Florence Welch's lead on her grand 2nd LP 'Halcyon'. Adding a touch of Robyn with ubiquitous icy synths that yield mixed results, the 25 year old mainly ditches the nu-folk of her charming debut & ambitiously aims big here with some huge arrangements. While Goulding's sweet voice occasionally gets lost in the clutter, strong storytelling nous & some ethereal atmospherics keep the album grounded, even if it doesn't hold up to the very end. It may be no 'Ceremonials', but 'Halcyon' is a satisfying progression. Recommended Tracks: Anything Could Happen, Figure 8, My Blood & Only You.

This is way better than I thought. Solid 3.5 after first listen. My Blood is fucking amazing. A little to much autotune for my taste though.

I have a question for all those Ellie fanboys who fap furiously to her day and night: Does Ellie make everything? Like, the piano and electronics in the background: Does she make that? I have a hard time respecting most pop musicians due to their lack of talent in pretty much everything. They can't play anything, and some of the time, don't even write their own music. Ellie probably writes her own music, but does she do anything past that?

Michael Jackson was one of those few pop musicians who actually made and coordinated everything. He was fantastic and I respect the guy a ton for what he's done for music — that is, what he's done based off his own efforts. I love Ellie but I seriously can't respect someone who relies on others to make half their music. So anyone got an answer?

I mean, all the effects and electronic beats/rhythms in the background could all be done via midi, so I hope that's what she's doing :/
