awesome, you're in for a treat. I wish I could relive the experience of listening to Elizium for the first time.
that album is an absolute monolith of atmosphere. the 15-minute suite that comprises the first four tracks is especially breathtaking

My best mates older brother had a poster of this on his wall back in ‘89/90. He was a ‘proper’ goth. Me and me mate got dressed up in all the bullshit, leather jacket, winkle pickers the lot and minced about the gaff taking the piss.
Good times.

Well written review. Did not know this band was known on this site. Glad someone picked up the slack on reviewing this band!
When I listen to this, I can’t help but wonder if Agalloch’s The Serpent and the Spherewas trying to pay homage to this band/ album in particular.

I remember going into Our Price and buying this on cassette as I was intrigued by the album cover and mystical inscriptions on the inside. Gonna sound a bit melodramatic so forgive me - but this album literally changed my life.

I think the relationship between Carl McCoy’s lyrics and beliefs, and the sound that the band brings to reflect this is nothing short of perfection. For me, it really goes beyond just being music.

If Elizium is heavenly, ethereal and sweeping. This one is very much of the Earth. Gritty and haunting. You can really get a sense of him stirring all those mythological giants of ancient scripture and the Lovecraftian universe.
