Great album and good review. Beyond the Realms of Death is the best Priest song in my book. First metal ballad? I think yes. Sorry "Children of the Damned" and "Fade to Black." Fall to your knees and repent, if you please!

My favourite 70's Priest. Essential to any heavy metal collection.

Nice work man, have a pos.

@Atari: Have you checked subterranean yet? Its amazing.

@Friday: Well Black Sabbath wrote a Metal ballad 8 years before so I doubt it haha. I think its my

best Priest too, actually, but maybe second after Victim.

Dreamer Deceiver is better, but it's still sweet. And yeah, Sabbath made metal-ballads before.

Maybe my definition of metal ballad is different. To me it has to be really dynamic and driving, like BTROD's chorus and the last solo. Even "Dreamer Deciever" doesn't quite make me think METAL when I hear it (good song as it is). I've heard ballads by Sabbath like "Planet Caravan" and "Solitude" but none fit that definiton (of course I only know Paranoid and Master of Reality well). Any suggestions for heavy Black Sabbath ballads? Don't just say I'm wrong and leave me hanging :P

A Little Bit Of Finger is not quite the thing, but Meglomenia is a metal-ballad.

When I think about it maybe Killing Yourself To Live is a metal-ballad too.

@ViperAces thanks. I'd have to agree with you on Megalomania, though as a picky man I don't quite get the epic vibe I associate with Metal ballads...but I digress. Always knew Sabotage was underrated.

Yeah, Sabotage rules hard. I can certainly get the epic feel of Megalomania.

Also, could one call N.I.B. and Paranoid ballads?
Saw a "Classic Rock Ballads" compilation the other day, and it had Paranoid on it.

I definitely wouldn't call Paranoid a ballad.

And fuck yeah you do, rules so hard.

Always had trouble deciding what the second best Priest album is

this or Painkiller

"I definitely wouldn't call Paranoid a ballad."

That's what I thought ^^ although the lyrics are... well, sad. But still

I second KILL, even though I might take Screaming over Painkiller.
