I don't get the comparisons people are always making between this guy's voice and the voices of other artists like Thom Yorke and Matt Bellamy. I think his voice is quite a unique one.

Thanks. This is quite disappoiting indeed, especially considering my high expectations after their last album. I think Soord sounds quite similar to Thom Yorke most of the time. His voice holds the same register so it's not exactly his fault. I just pointed out that his vocals should've been more diverse. As for the music, I think they've their own style since SHIM. Before that, they had been fascinated with The Porcupine Tree a bit too much, to put it mildly.

I give this a 3.5 for now cos it's the best I can do. Not much to hold my attention here. Kind of disappointing album. ''Last Man Standing'', ''Build a World'' and ''Give it Back'' are the highlights imo.

Yeah. These tracks plus the opener are stand-outs for sure. It's fairly disappointing, but I still prefer to listen to this than many popular alt-rock acts tbh.

Agreed. Have you noticed, the band always managed to offer a killer opener and a killer ending to their releases so far, which is not the case here especially for the last song that really offers nothing special.

I like the opener, but I also think the closer is rather meh. I was really surprised that various other reviewers praised it, despite their lukewarm reception of the whole disc. Give It Back is much better soundwise if sort of repetitive in its lyrics. I found the mellow tracks quite cool, especially One More Step Away is simple, yet very effective.

nice review as always greg

don't know but this band just didn't do it for me. They're great players and their songs flow well but I just couldn't find some spirit- it seemed kinda flat at times

Thanks guys.

@scissorlocked:

I feel like these guys have enormous potential which they showed on their last album. This falls short of high expectations, but I'm sure they'll be able to top this in the future.

The closer is boring as hell compared to their older ones. The case is basically the same for the album as a whole, too.

I don't think the album is boring. The songwriting is diverse enough, if a bit repetitive. These guys are capable of much more though.

It's quality stuff. I prefer it to most alt-rock records hyped on here.
