production is worse on this album tbh. was heavier on youngbloods.

I'm just listening to it atm, so I'll reserve judgement on the actual rating for later.

They did. It's called 'Relationship of Command' by At The Drive-In. That album's amazing, but it's actually more than a guide book, it's a freaking template!!

Relationship of Command = generic? lol.

This album is generic, but it's well written. Youngbloods is more consistent though

@ Danrawks OH GOD NO!! It's not generic at all and it's an amazing album, it's just that it was so good that every single band since has tried to emulate it by using the recipe of getting Relationship Of Command and adding double kick =/

It's not generic, but it definitely left a template of awesome that every band tries to copy.

I've never even listened to these guys, minus the set of theirs I caught at Soundwave 11.

Maybe I should change that.

This thread makes me sad for the kids, comparing this to At The Drive-In is just silly and misinformed. This album on the other hand isn't bad.

@fractured......you know what? I'm gonna level with you guys. I was trying to make a point about there being a guidebook to generic post-hardcore and that was the first album that popped in my head. I realised how stupid that sounded but tried to run with it for a while, but it's not a good comparison. I think Emery's early stuff like The Question is probably a better comparison to this.
