Maybe not a 10/10 but definitely a 7/10 or 8/10.
Nice review, they rock

They're okay. I really hate ben's voice. Not singing voice...but talking voice. Its very nasal...moreso than chris carraba. Their songs are very boring....they're all formatted perfectly for radio/television. If you listen to their old stuff its much better (including hte older version of Try Honesty)

I love Billy Talent. They rock! They're one of the only few punk/screamo bands that i actually like... I've liked almost every single they've released, gonna pick-up album soon. Kick *** band from Canada! Btw I am Canadian so I had to put that....

Very good review. This album is one if not The best album I ever heard. You just can't stop listening to it after you heard in two or three times. I really recommend it.

the drummer (aaron) went to my high school (meadowvale, mississauga, ontario)
hell, the whole band's from my area, which is awesome
Ian used to teach guitar at a local guitar store, too (the whole band went there for an autograph session a few months ago (got mine signed :D )

Album Rating: 3.5
Hm, some songs are really great, and I like those a lot (River below for instance), but some other songs on the record are not so special. I like one half of the record, the other don't.
So I would say: 3/5

This has to be the best band come out of canada since sum 41. I first caught wind of Billy Talent from 'Try Honestly' which was on the soundtrack do a game i have. I instantly loved the song, and constantly listened to it, with each listen it grew on me. Then i heard 'River Below'. the opening riff is amazing as is the rest of the song, so i decided to get the album. Instant classic in my ever growing collection. The best songs are try honestly, river below, the ex, nothing to lose, and lies. The ex works for me because it connects to a period in my life, so i loved it. the scorching lyrics in all the songs are excellent throughout the entire album and 'nothing to lose' is an amazing song. Im surprised that 'Lies' hasnt been given much credit on this review, the riffs are blasting throughout and the song caught my attention right away, im glad billy talent came along, each cd i bought never lived up to the standard and i was looking for a classic to end the streak of crappy cd's i bought. This is that cd. i rate the whole album 9/10

What would you guys classify this baand as? Alot of the songs sound punk but then certain songs like river below and cut the curtains seem hard rock.
|
| |
Id classify em as........well im not 2 sure either, hard to do. Maybe punk, but a bit heavy for punk, like supercharged punk or sumthin, but i agree that some songs are a little heavy to be classified as punk

I live about 15 minutes from where these guys are from, so we heard about them first. Personally, I can't stand them. The nasal voice, the power chords, the completely typical muscial structure and content, it just drives me insane. Boring unimaginative melodies and juvenile lyrics. I'm not shytting on anybodys taste, I just don't personally like them.
Great review though.

great canadian band :D

Try Honesty - Best track ever and easy to play.
Had this ever since it came out. Great to listen to when you feel down or so.
River Below has been playing for awhile... It gets annoying and on my nerves...

it's a good fun album. i listen to it every now and then, and it's a really fun album, with some really good guitar riffs.
i love the riff in How it Goes, and yes, i've noticed the difference in some of the songs. i have two different versions of Try Honesty, the album version being the best in my opinion.
