"I read somewhere that they opened it with “Crucify Me” and closed it with “Fox and the Wolf" to switch up the normal metalcore thing of opening with a short and crazy song and ending with the long "epic" one."

@TrstN01 I'm just not a fan of what they did. I'm all for going against the grain, but because of its layout, I can't see "Fox and the Hound" anywhere but track 1. It would feel out of place pretty much anywhere else, especially track 12. I guess I could see "Crucify Me" in the middle of this album, but it would need a good transition out and would need to be followed by one of the strong songs imo.

I mostly agree with you lol, I was just mentioning it. I like "Crucify Me" as an opener, but you're right about "Fox And The Wolf." It really doesn't work as an end to the album.

On top of that, this album is rather heavily frontloaded. I didn't realize it until I typed it, but the four strongest songs are 1-4. Moving "Crucify Me" to the closer would've propped up the back end a little better. The "Fuck" and "Don't Go" tandem feel like they should've been a little later on also, but I'm just nitpicking at that point.

That is true. I mean, I like the whole album, but it is definitely frontloaded lol

I probably enjoy this album more than I should. I hated it at first, but it's a bit of a grower. Been listening to it a lot lately, which spawned this review.

"Blacklist" is actually one of my favorites on here! But seriously, good review!

Good review, those guys are just an average and extremely mediatic band with a generic scene look. I enjoy a bunch of songs of Oliver and company but they are not exactly my cup of tea

Yeah this is an interesting format to try once but don't make it your style, nothing beats a simple essay-style format with an intro, thesis, body paragraphs, and conclusions. But I agree with most of your points though I give the band more credit. I used to hate them so much until this album. I think "Anthem" is more of a "what they shouldn't do" than "Alligator Blood" is.

@JackSparrow But Anthem's whole point was to poke fun at other bands' anthem songs. It's good satire. And I think it's a really fun song.

Are you sure about that? The lyrics don't suggest a joke at all, to me it sounds like thats them hanging on to their past days, which shouldnt be done because those days sucked

@JackSparrow I mean, if they came out and made it obvious that it was satire, that would dumb it down. I'm pretty certain it's satire. And as I pointed out in the review, "Alligator Blood" feels like the closest thing to their old stuff.
