Ew, who still listens to Rush? I'm not into fossil rock that "cool dads" are into.

Nah it's pretty old. It's basically whatever old stuff old dudes that shout at clouds and young preteens that are "better than their peers b/c of what they listen to" endlessly jock.

First of all, i just wanna say this is an F-tier review at best. With that said, i can understand where the reviewer is coming from to some extent, there are definitely some lyrics in here that i would consider cringy, sappy drivel, or just plain over the top... but there are also some of the hardest lines ever coined by man.

Normally I am a man who gives 0 fucks about lyrics in any regard in music, but this is the only band on the planet that just hits different, and it is fortunate for them because without the lyrics I do not believe the music would hold up on its own except for rare moments.

The only 2 tracks I return to on this album are "said the king to the river" (which is the most musically and maybe least lyrically valid song on the album IMO), and "the last lost continent" a 12minute epic which hits musically and especially lyrically with passages like "And I still hear my friend say 'You know, you wouldn't believe the things I saw when I was stationed overseas', But he somehow keeps smiling in spite all of that, while I keep finding ways to push the good out for the bad"...

This is art, and they simply do it a little different than everyone who has come before them, and I can appreciate that...cuz even when i talk about "cringy moments", the song "New storms for older Lovers" is the cringiest moment here. It's sung from the perspective of a dude who got cheated on talking to the guy who stole his girl, which is a concept I cant relate to and have no use for, but its executed at an 11/10 level.

shame is my favorite la dispute song "why it scares me" is on the split album with Touche Amore
