Guitars downtuned to shit? Check. Neverending breakdowns? Check. Obnoxious, screechy, double tracked vocals? Check. Meandering, droning guitar in the background? Check. "Polyrhythmic drumming" that goes nowhere? Double check. When metal elitists complain about deathcore sucking, they're thinking of albums like this. Zero forward momentum, and pretty much 90% of the riffs are binary code transcribed to guitar tab.

The djenty-ness gets a little monotonous, but I still find some enjoyable grooves. Not AOTY but their's some cool atmosphere displayed here even if it's a little dragged out. Might not be your cup of tea but you're over analyzing it. If you had any expectations besides what you got from this then I don't know what you were thinking.

^ Agreed, 100%. Also, if you just open your mind a bit and think of it as simply Metal, it might come out at least slightly rewarding. Its the atmosphere itself that makes me want to go back listen to this, the raw feeling and such. I guess its a matter of perception though.

These guys must really really love Meshuggah. It's like I'm hearing Nothing and Catch 33 in one album.

I really tried to come up with a good answer to that, but i just couldnt lol

Cus i do think i know the correlation you made there.. In terms of mood, this is as trippy as some

stuff Meshuggah have made.

there's some good moments on the album but it's a bit too heavy for my tastes as well as frequent uninspired riffs and chugging.

oh i pos'd review, even though i can't get into them, you make a good case

The drumming is the only mildly interesting thing about this album. Hopefully that dude sticks with Glass Cloud full time.
